boogie+ts9 = a sadder me

Re: boogie+ts9 = a sadder me

Yeah, owning (and having recorded with) a Boogie Mk III, I can see the guy wanting to do the TS-9 track for coloration - as a cleaner tone to mix in with the Boogie roar, but the thought of using that as the stock tone? Kinda silly, IMO...:dunno:

"Proper" 4x12" cabinets?

For the record, recording with a 1x12" often does give the best results.

I think it's strange that he wants you to try a TS on the clean channel, but A/B them anyway.

By proper I mean something like the Randall/Orange cabinets, not some cheap**** Behringer.

The only reason to record with a 1x12 is if you want the sound of a 1x12 cabinet. If you want the power and weight of a halfstack, there's no way to get it besides mic'ing up a halfstack. Sure, you might only have mics on one speaker, but the space inside a 4x12 combined with the air that 4 speakers are moving really does more for the tone than you'd think.
