Boost Pedals

Hey all, I need a boost pedal. What I would really like is a pedal to do a clean boost, add some thickness to my strat, Im after two main tones with this,

a) a beefed up rock tone, use the boost to do lead boost's into almost humbuckerish tone's

b) clean boost when im doing jazz gigs, to give me a bit more of a thick warm tone . . . .

What do you think? Im looking at the seymour pickup booster, and the Xotic effects RC Booster . . . any other suggestions?

Re: Boost Pedals

rangemaster germanium treble booster? perhaps TheGoldenBoy can chip in on this. he has experience.

Re: Boost Pedals

Sounds like you need the Duncan pickup booster. It has a loud boost and a frequency switch that will make your single coils sound like humbuckers.

Re: Boost Pedals

One of the very, very best is the Duncan Pickup Booster. The other is the Boss DS-1. Lew

I'm with Lew regarding the Duncan Pickup Booster...I mod the DS1 to grind though. :)

Re: Boost Pedals

I tried the seymour duncan pickup booster thinking it wouldn't alter the tone.. but took a clean amp to dirty.. I was looking for dBs.. not OD

For boost pedals I'd recommend:

Fulltone Fat Boost
ZVex Super Duper 2in1
ZVex SHO
Seymour Duncan Pickup Booster

On a small technical note . . . the SD Pup Booster is very clean, but if you exceed the maximum designed input level of an amp . . . its gonna be dirty. There's no way around that. ;)
