HAILS MATE!!!

FWIW, one Boss buffer won't be an issue IMO unless you have something like an old school fuzz in the mix but anyway, if I wanted a digital delay that was true bypass I'd be looking at either the Vox Time Machine or the TC Electronics Flashback...

Re: Boss DD3 Digital Delay Equivalent W/ True Bypass?

I use a DD-3 and don't have any issues with the buffer - with all those true bypass pedals a buffer might actually help your signal! ;)

Having said that, I also have a Seymour Duncan Deja Vu and can highly recommend it. It can do anything the DD-3 does plus a LOT more, and it's true bypass!

Re: Boss DD3 Digital Delay Equivalent W/ True Bypass?

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh ill check their sites then. thank you for the tip man.
im starting to play bass also and im changing m styles a bit or adding new stuffs to it
like alternative, brit pop, electronica, grunge, and stuffs like that. so im also wanting to get a smoother and atmospheric sound
i already choose 2 maxon pedals : the stereo chorus cs 550 and the rotary phaser Ph 350.
ill get the first version silver jeckyll and Hyde by visual sound.

deja vu is awesome. Boss has nothing on this machine.

= DD3 with true bypass.

You can get a true bypass loop for like 30$ from loop-master.

Not knocking the Deja-Vu at all, I love mine . . . but there's no reason to blow that kind of money if you just want true bypass.

Re: Boss DD3 Digital Delay Equivalent W/ True Bypass?

Don't believe the true-bypass hype. (Where's Rid when I need him?) A few buffers in an effects chain are generally a good thing. The DD-3 is the best bang-for-buck all-around basic delay out there. I've had at least one on my board since 1983. If it does the job for you, don't ditch it just because it has a buffer.

Re: Boss DD3 Digital Delay Equivalent W/ True Bypass?

Thanks Guitar Steve
i would get it if i wasnt already set on the the Flashback by TC electronics.. plus i think it will be too much small things on the floorboard. but anyway thank you for the post. q: ) its good to know that such thing exists
Q: P

Rich S - I wasn t concerned about it at ALL.. but when i got my 5150 and a gcb 95 crybaby and used both together.. it sucked my tone so much that the 5150 sounded like a cheap transistor.
one more question.. im planning on getting also the Slash crybaby. i saw one demo from paul at guitarplayer youtube channel and it was simnply amazing how sweet ,, vocal and wavy the pedal is.
do i need to do the same true bypass mod ?

Re: Boss DD3 Digital Delay Equivalent W/ True Bypass?

I have no love for boss pedals but the buffer on the dd-3 is a good one.

The 95 wah is a notorius tone smasher. Just do a TB mod on it, the DD-3 should be fine.

Re: Boss DD3 Digital Delay Equivalent W/ True Bypass?

A great TB delay that hasn't been mentioned: the Deeelay by CMATMODS. I replaced a Boss delay with one. I agree with others though that a buffer or two is a good thing to have in a signal chain.

You need a better wah, not a better delay, how are they related? The buffer in the DD3 won't hurt your tone. Unfortunately, the base model Crybabies don't really bypass the effect, the effect is still connected to the signal when it is "off" so it loads down the signal (as Rid was saying). I'm pretty sure the Slash model is TB, so that would be a good choice, might want to double check that though.
