Re: Boss GT-6 and GT-8
I have the GT-6 as well, and love it over all. It's fantastic for direct recording...just make sure you have a decent set of speakers for your computer. I didn't at first, so I had to run the second output into my practice amp so I could hear while I was recording.
The factory pre-sets are so so....some are great, and some are lousy. The thing I like is the ability to make changes to the presets by tweaking knobs, just like on an amp or pedal. Of course you can go in and do global changes and all sorts of other menu type changes, but I don't have that much patience. The pedal models offered are pretty good as well, but again it takes a little tweaking to get them sounding good.
I guess what I'm saying is that if you have patience for tweaking and customizing your sound, making menu changes, ect....the potential of the unit is almost unlimited. Even for what limited changes I make, it's totally worth the $$.
If you listen to my soundclips, Heavens Door, Plush, Interstate Love Song, All Right Now, Hanging By A Moment are all done with the GT-6 direct to my computer, ACID Pro is my recording platform.
I highly recommend it. It also sounds really good if you run it into the effect loops of a tube amp, and use the unit as your pre-amp!
