I originally bought this pedal several years ago because I had heard the Daniel Johns of Silverchair used one on Freak so I bought it. Well the thing sucked and sounded bad through everything I put it through. So I put it in a box and forgot all about it. So about a year agp (almost 2 now I guess) I started working on a computer set up and I had a nice small vintage Fender amp I found the pedal, plugged it in and it still sucked. So it got shelved. Well I would try it now and again each time it sucked. Today I decided I would try it one more time before it hit ebay. This time I through an eq behind it and plugged it straight into the computer, no computer modellers, no amps, no mics, nothing, and it actually sounded good. Well not like OMG I need new change of pants, but it was one of the sounds I was looking for. It needs a little more work, but its getting close. I was really after that metallic/processed 80's metal sound and this thing so does it and well too! I was amazed. I would't call that sound great, but its one I really like. So thank you Boss for making a pedal no one used. It just needs some eq tweeking and a speaker sim to round the sound out a bit maybe.
The only example I can think of at the moment of what it sounds like check out Judas Priest on VH1 rock honors. It reminds me of that. Or maybe the painkillers tones.
I'm Eric and I love crappy pedals that make crappy sounds.
