Hey guys

I'm curious to know if any of you have tried the Boss PS-5 or any other "budget" harmonizers (aka, not willing to spend 2000 on an Eventide)

I'm Most interested in it's harmonizing function. How's it sound?

Does it keep perfect pitch? etc..

Im mainly looking for a not too expensive (i suppose in the $50 - $150 used market range) good sounding harmonizer for live use..

Thanks

If the PS-5 is the one with polyphonic effects, then yes, get one if you can at the right price- I had one for a while, an it really worked well, but I sold all my pedals and got an ME-50, which only has monophonics, and doesn't track real well.

I actually liked the -1octave down feature on the PS-5 better than the same on the Boss OC-3 (Super octave) even though the OC-3 is supposedly polyphonic.
The rest of the effects on the PS-5 sounded ‘artificial’ to me. The Harmonist mode will only handle single notes.

Thanks for yo's input guys!

I'm only interested in the harmonist for Single Notes...

Anymore experience's with the PH-5 or other harmonists??????

Cheers!!

Maybe A DigiTech whammy pedal they have harmony settings and alot of artist use them

my boss GT Pro has a harmonizer built in that tracks very well- I use it for all sorts of sound twisting, and it sounds great.

Ned Evett (opened for Satch on a few tours) uses a PS-5 and gets some interesting sounds with it. Uses it sparingly, but extremely unique.

He also uses a OC-2 and a DS-1, so.. yeah.. check him out possibly. Fretless glass fretboard guitar, uses a sustainer, gets a unique tone. Great player, too.

I use a Digitech Whammy. I think its great and very versatile. Check it out and see if its for you...
