Boss TU-3 Question

Do you guys run it at the begining or end of the chain? No effects loop. A/B for axes, Double Trouble, Corned Beef, Bassman.

Re: Boss TU-3 Question

I run it at the beginning. That way nothing down the chain left on can interfere with it.

But I have read lately a good argument for putting it last. Say you have no sound from the amp. If the tuner is getting good signal then you know your first cable and pedal board aren't to blame.

As for Corned Beef...not too big on that stuff myself.

Re: Boss TU-3 Question

I don't really know whether its first or last? I plug my guitar into the tuner, would that make it first or last? I use a couple of boards. My gigging board is set up like this:

Amp: Deluxe Reverb or Marshall 900 50W combo(depending on the size of the room) From the amp I have a CE2 clone(chorus), a DD3, TS9, Wah, tuner, guitar.

My main board I have at home is a little more complicated. I use two amps. One is channel switching with a loop the other is one channel with no loop. Tha Amps are a Bogner Shiva 1 12 combo & a Komet 60.

The Bogner setup is: In the loop I have a Chorus CE2, DD3, then I have a modded TS9 going straight in. This amp goes to a Loopmaster A/B/Y

The Komet setup is: Verbzilla, CE2, DD3, TS808 clone, to the Loopmaster. From the loopmaster I go to a wah & my tuner. Guitar again plugs into my tuner.

This gives my tons of flexibility with both great amps I get great tones. I prefer using delay with the Bogner it has a more natural sound especially with overdrive. The Komet on the other hand is a really beautiful clean amp and with the TS808 it sounds huge. If I am playing clean then I can use the delay if I kick in the TS808 the delay kind of gets in the way.... The tuner is at the end (or beginning) because when I turn it on it mutes everything. I also like the two amp setup. I can set up one for over drive tones and one for cleans...

Re: Boss TU-3 Question

I run my tuner at the end. Depending on the gain you might be running on your board, the LED driving circuit makes noise through the signal chain. This caused me to move it from the beginning to the end.

Re: Boss TU-3 Question

I'd put it at the end. That way, when you go to tune at the end of the song, it cuts any noise your effects may be adding to the chain. Also, since you have a buffered tuner instead of true bypass, if you ever want to add fuzz to your mix, you have to use the TU-3 after those pedals.

This is what I was thinking but not sure of. So, guitars>A/B>Double Trouble>Corned Beef>TU-3>Bassman sounds right?
