Bought a Behringer Guitar Link today (USB interface)

For the price, ALL of us should have one of these.

It's a external USB sound card, designed with the electric guitar in mind.

So as long as you've got decent speakers in your PC, or some nice headphones, you can enjoy great guitar tones with no latency in the middle of the night, like me now. :D

It includes a CD with a very stripped down version of Guitar Rig 3, with AC30, JCM800 and Fender Tweed models, plus some multitrack recording software that I haven't tried yet.
Can't switch models/channels on the fly, but I put my Marshall Jackhammer in front. Problem solved. :D

The high/low level switch is nice. I can go from my Ibanez to my SSS Strat without volume dramas.

Overall cost for this late recording/jamming wonder? Like $40.

Only bad thing is I didn't buy it before!

I'll see your Guitar Link and raise you a TonePort GX.

That'd be the upgrade, but even that Line 6 thing is expensive compared to the stupid price of the Behringer.

Both are wonderful tools and more than worth their price though.

As long as it says behringer, i will never touch it.

Your loss.

I've owned and used several Behringer pieces of equipment through the years and you know what? NONE of them died on me. EVER.

Granted, it may not be the best technology money can buy, but you ALWAYS get a lot for what you pay for.

I still own and use several Behringer products, like mixers, modeling amps and preamps, PA equipment and Studio gear.

No problem at all. You turn'em on and they just function as advertised.

HTH,

HTH,

I don't want to turn this into a Behringer-bashing thread, but my modeling combo starts popping through the speakers for no obvious reason, after I've had it on about twenty minutes. I'm trying not to read a lot into it, because it's only one data point, but when people talk about the reliability of Behringer products, here's a grain of salt you can take it with.

Then get the Line 6.

Unless you don't want to.

Behringer is one thing, but there is Mickeysoft Windows involved isn't it?

If I didn't use Windows, I wouldn't be able to do my job or use about half of the software I use for leisure activities. I'll pick my battles, thanks.

Tried it with my netbook and tightened the settings up, got latencies so low that next time for rehearsal I'll bring it and put it through the PA instead of something else.
Sounds way better than anything I've played that wasn't a tube amp.
Goddamn this thing is amazing.

Re: Bought a Behringer Guitar Link today (USB interface)

It's always been a matter of want with guitar links and such. Line 6 is too expensive, though. How much did you pay for this?

EDIT: Ah, that's NOT bad at all. Good job.

Re: Bought a Behringer Guitar Link today (USB interface)

I've eyeballed that thing for a while now. Glad to hear you're diggin' it.

Re: Bought a Behringer Guitar Link today (USB interface)

And, that's still cheaper than Line 6.

By about $4.

The Line 6 is a hundred bucks. I spend more than that on food every week. Considering the capabilities, buying either the Behringer or the Line 6 is almost like getting it for free.
