bought a jackson san dimas era strat. some dipstick sanded or pulled off the jackson laminate on the headstock, it was a 2 owner guitar. body is one solid piece of flame maple, and is beautiful. my question is, can you even find laminates with jackson logos on or even replace the whole thing across the headstock? Sure its a Dimas? Smells like a faker/partscaster move to sand logos

PS most worthwhile logo I've EVER seen sanded & verified was Fernandes Japan (cheap-ish plain 80s/90s strat neck)

Does it have those little pressed in numbers for the neck serial on the last fret? Number check out alright?

Re: bought a san dimas jackson strat :) need help on what to do about a headstock rep

That's not a strat, that is a dinky. Ontario control rout and scalloped heel could mean Player's Choice series.

You misunderstand...many things. Anyways, its bolton nature makes this superSTRAT vulnerable to all the same tricks of the scammer strat (partscasters with 1 or more cheapo substitution pts posing as intact original guitars) trade. Hence the neck serial - on the last fret, pressed in/engraved on USA Jacksons - is EXTREMELY relevant... And would be even without the whole mess of question and exclamation marks thrown up by a sanded logo that SUPPOSEDLY indicated a $2k guitar

Re: bought a san dimas jackson strat :) need help on what to do about a headstock rep

Well, Adieu... what I do not misunderstand is that cheap guitars don't come with solid flamed maple bodies and ebony fretboards inlayed with mother of pearl. Furthermore, as far as I know, Jackson did not press serial numbers onto the fretboards on bolt-on guitars.

A) flame body + noname neck = PROFIT ...bolton, remember?
B) flame bodies can be purchased or ordered for A LOT less than a usa jackson costs. Jacksons cost MORE than the sum of their parts, as a famous popular brand.
C) (possibility) fotoflame? cant see inside cavity on pics
D) "ebonized" rosewood says hello
E) MOP inlays as a security/authentication method? R U kidding or trolling??

its a dinky, since someone always has to piss in cheerios around here. i dont care what all the things are that people scream about if its real or not. just wondering if logos are alot of work to put back on.

i am not trolling, and you are all getting beyond the main question asked so im not going to entertain and turn this into a maurey povich is it or isnt it. im only responding to the original questions. thanks much everyone.

its a water damage neck from the san dimas factory, stamped with a W on it. the guitars headstock was sanded off because the guitars neck was going to be parted off to a parts o jackson with a sanded off body. dude never did it, and it sat around for 20 plus years. its in amazing shape. the guitar is a san dimas its a solid flame maple body. the neck plate is ontario, ca, but all the identifiers make it a 1987 san dimas. im not going to go into a huge is it or isnt it discussion, thats not what i asked about or for. the floyd rose is made in germany if that helps anyone that wants to further go down that road and off topic. i just want to replace the headstock if its at all possible. thanks.

Why don't you just make your own new logo?

rather try to bring it back to what it should be. sad to see a nice guitar destroyed by someones drunken stupidity 20 years plus ago.

Personally i wouldn't care. You will have a hard time finding a veneer for it. You could keep your eye out for damaged necks you maybe able to salvage one off. Other than that you could do a paint and waterslide decal or something.

Duuuude, i never said it was or wasnt real... Just said check carefully cuz the fakes they always come w/ stories. If i had a dime for every "factory accident" tale :-)

thats fine. its unlike any other dinky. ive scanned jackson catalogs, and nothing. my friend that the store this came from ive known and done business with for over 20 years. he wouldnt sell me a fake. guy it was bought from helped them with identifiying it. it really doesnt matter to me, i didnt pay a huge fortune for it. it was easily a 1500 plus guitar if the headstock wasnt sanded down by last owner.

i mean its not a huge deal. i just wanted to find out if its worth doing. if not no biggy, it adds character. the body on this thing is amazing. my guitar luthier/ set up dude ive known 20 plus years is going to look it over to make certain it is the real deal.

Paint the headstock black, put a Jackson Decal on it, and clearcoat it. Good as new. It's probably around $30 for supplies, and maybe a week for the painting/clearcoating process. The only hard part is having to see it everyday, but not being able to play it. :D

You can buy a Jackson headstock logo sticker and take the guitar to a luthier who will paint the whole headstock.
