Im looking for a new amp, im torn between 3,
1. Diamond Spec Op
2. Bogner Uberschall
3. Mesa Roadking

Has anyone had any experience with the Diamond Spec op, or Uberschall? Im leaning towards the Spec Op. the sound clips form their site are BRUTAL!:headbang:

I assume that the road king is a recto (the high gain channels) and a mix of the lone star and recto clean for the other channels (like mesa's site says). But I have very little experience with the others and there's no store around here that have them to play.

Can anyone help?

if youre going boutique for i suggest Diezel herbert or vh4.

The Genz Benz El Diablo may not be boutize in cost but kills a mesa anyday. check out the clips on their website.

Since the other replies in this thread pretty much ignored your question, I'll try to help.

I owned a Road King (which is like a dual rec) for a while and ultimately sold it because I was constantly tweaking the 40+ knobs and switches and never totally happy with the tone. It never seemed to tighten up, and once you add enough gain for metal it was pretty much... bleh.

There was some weird character to the way the mids broke up that sounded unmusical to me... odd-order harmonics or something. Hard to say.

I'm in a band with a guy who owns an Uber. That thing kicks. It does two things, pretty much (if you set it up that way): Super clean and total hyper-compressed brutal mayhem. In some ways it's similar to a Recto, but it doesn't seem to have those crackly mids and it's much tighter. I like it. It's definitely 100% in the modern metal, 6L6 kind of vibe - if that's your thing there is none better.

I have no experience Diamond amps.

thanks for the reply sosomething. i defenately have a metal tone in mind. i know the ubershcall has tons of low end, but how are the mids and highs? in my tone i use alot of bass, and mids.
also how is the clean? im guessing any amp would have a better clean channer than my 5150.

It's got nice, full mids. You have to be a little careful with the highs, because it is prone to a lot of that high-gain "sizzle" on the top end, which you may not find very toneful (I know I don't) but for the most part it can be dialed out.

The clean channel is surprisingly good, esp. for an amp w/ that much gain on tap.

I own a Bogner Shiva. Not the same amp at all, in fact the Uber and a Shiva are as far apart as 2 amps from the same maker can be. I would also recommend you look at the Bogner Extacy. Its a 3 channel amp and from what I've heard it will do some amazing things......... very versatile. What I will comment on is the quality of the Bogner. The build quality is first rate. My Shiva is exactly what I wanted. Prior to me owning this I used a Marshall 900 A/b'd with a Fender Super Reverb. I was really hjappy with the variety of tones I had with this, but as you can imagine it is a lot to carry. The Shiva gave me cleans that IMO are as good if not better than most Fenders I have played thru. The gain although different than my Marshall was more musical and had better harmonics, yet there are certain things that I still like the tone I get with my Marshall. Take your time befor you drop down a load of cash. Play thru all the amps that fit your needs and see which works best for you.

If you can get your hands on one, check out Mad Professor.

I also love the clean tones from the Shiva. Couple it up with a BJF Honey Bee, and it kills. Not high gain, just rich mellow grind. Like a good cup of coffee.

I use a modded TS9 with the cleans on the Shiva. It works great. I usually have the gain on the TS9 all the way down and use it more as a clean boost, but ocassionally I crank the drive up about ½ way and it screams. The Drive channel in the Shiva is very musical as well great amp all around,
