Hey guys.

Just got my Marshall 1936 2x12 yesterday and this thing really sounds like poo poo outta the box :laugh2:
Very harsh and just crap.
I know it has the potential to sound good (at least IMO) cos my 4x12 has the same speakers, But I got that 2nd hand 3 years ago so I'm sure that been well broken in.
I was gonna bring it out to my da's workshop just outside the house and put really loud music through it for a few hours.
Thing is I don't have any kind of home stereo (nor know how I would wire one up for a cab) so would it be safe to run the headphone out of a discman or "boom box" :laugh2: through my DSL. No chance the DSL would get damaged?

Cheers

i do that all the time at practices when we need to hear a song. The best way would be to put something with alot of upper mids like a classic rock band, and crank the bass and mids on the amp. This can't really hurt the amp, signal is signal, just dont over do it.

Yeah they'll prolly sound better when they break in, BUT, do you have the ohms selected correctly on the head???

Yes, Yes I do.

I was thinking about putting on Surfing with the alien on repeat so I'll be able to Play and sound like satch :laugh2:

Any chance of returning it instead? Someone told me that the old 1936 cabs were made like their 4-12's, but the newer ones are made outta particle board. Even if you break in the speakers, it'll never sound better. My advise is to return or sell it, and either get a 2-12 from another company like Avatar, Mesa, VHT, or Bogner, or get a Marshall 1960A 4-12.

Marshall are like the cheapest cabs here tho, Mesas or anything else from that side of the pond go for about 3 times the price than the marshalls here. And I was lookin for a 2x12 to have as well as my 4x12 for portability when i cant bring a 4x12
