... Even though the stock "iM" tuners weren't too bad, I replaced them with special ordered polished chrome Sperzel locking tuners (see below)...

... It's pretty easy to then take one of the tuners for the G, B, or E strings, dismantle the knob/worm drive, put it in the opposite side of the post housing, and reassemble it (giving you a 4x2 set).

i had brian moore guitars do the sperzel upgrade for me for $100 .. i bet they'd sell you the 4x2 tuners direct if you wanted to get them installed yourself ... i think there is a bit of drilling involved to go from the iStock tuners to the sperzels ... i am thrilled to have the sperzels, but it probably wasnt necessary for my hard tail

good luck

Thanks for all the input! Yes, I meant Ibanez wizard neck as found on the RG570. Its a hair thinner than the wizard 2 found on the 470, s series etc..
I happen to love the Wizard neck..
Too bad the nearest dealer is 2 hours away... Maybe I need to try to snag one of these.. >>>>>>tiptoes into Kid's bedrooms<<<< >>>>tiptoes out holding piggy banks<<<<<<

I dont think Ill have the dough due to vehicle malfunction.. If by some chance I do, what one should I get?? Single cut/short scale or standard 25.5?

Re: Brian Moore guitars??

that's a tough call man...it's all your preference...

i91 (strat shape)has a 25.5 scale and 15 radius with maple/rosewood neck and a h/s/h configuration with a vibrato bridge

i21 (lp shape) has a 24.75 scale and 12 radius with mahogany/rosewood neck and an h/h configuration with a tunomatic bridge

at that price you can't go wrong...if i had $400 bucks i'd buy one in a heartbeat!

Thanks. By this point, I'd already added a set to a Strat and 2 for the top 2 strings of a bari-electric, so I was used to the drilling (a few were tight fits as the drill holes were a hair off - the little cardboard template not being the most accurate thing). I know Stew Mac sells a small metal jig that makes drilling the lug holes a breeze (just takes the right tool for the job). That special set from Sperzel cost me around $80.00.

It may have not been that necessary, but I'm so used to them on all my electrics (except the 335), and the quick string changes, I figured it couldn't help but improve tuning and helpthe guitar KEEP it's tuning (need to replace the nut with a graphite one as the strings still hang up a bit).

And for $400.00, I might consider another one and a different set of pickups. This guitar's got great tone (spent all day with it in the studio).
