Bridge of Sighs

Re: Bridge of Sighs

Kevin Randall seems to really understand that when he builds his pedals.
Love that....as said I have a mate with the same pedals.....the Gypsy is one mean mofo...and the vibe....well spin it up, let the guitar feed...all kinds of total fun overtones swirls around...total cool and acid in the great way!
Once again thanks for the very nice clip!

that vibe rules. just looked it up, its quite pricey though.

Re: Bridge of Sighs

BTW - How are you liking the Gypsy Fuzz?

Yeah, the Gypsy Fuzz is a great pedal to my ears. Not only does it provide a unique flavor amongst the fuzz pedals I've tried, it also integrates much better than most fuzzes with other pedals. It works great with a wah, and stacks really well with other OD pedals. As cool as the Analogman Sunface NKT 275 is, I've never really bonded with it, whereas the Gypsy Fuzz has an instant appeal and just makes you want to keep playing it. It has just the right amount of roughness around the edges to be aggressive, without the spikey quality that can make fuzz obnoxious. It's a winner.

Yeah, the Megavibe rules alright. I've since sold my MojoVibe because it simply isn't in the same league. As far as the price, it is around the same as both the MojoVibe and the Foxrox Aquavibe. The Aquavibe is more versatile, but I don't think either of the other two nails the classic Uni-Vibe tone or feel as well as the Megavibe.

I had the NKT-275 for a while as well, but never could get it to do what I thought it should do. My Strat uses Kinman Woodstock Noiseless. Do you think that could be part of it—the fact that it's not a true single-coil? I wonder if the Gypsy Fuzz would be better suited to the Kinmans, or if it's just a silicon fuzz not interacting well with noiseless pups.

Yeah, it's strange, I've heard some people do great things with a Sunface, but I'm not one of them! There's certainly nothing negative to be said about the quality of Mike Piera's work, he's brilliant. The feeling I get is that most FuzzFaces and clones really want to see a Marshall at the other end, and an old school kind of Marshall at that. I find that Fender and fuzz is f.. well, I might have to leave my alliteration there, but you know what I mean. I think the fact that the Gypsy Fuzz is not a purist FF clone, and that it has an element of overdrive to it, is what makes it so playable and easy to integrate into a rig, and a wide variety of amps.

I'm not sure what effect the Kinman's would have, but Intuitive Geoffrey tells me that it probably isn't an issue. Chris' pickups are pretty darn good, and if anyone can get the noiseless thing happening, it's him. Personally, I find the lack of noise a little spooky, and somehow not quite right. But I will freely admit that I have no reasonable explanation for my point of view. On the subject of Chris Kinman, he was the top dog guitar tech when I was a teenager in Brisbane, and was the first guy to set up my old Strat when I first bought it second hand. He's certainly gone on to better things. That's my mildly interesting story for the day.

Cheers.................................. Geoff.
