bridge pick up for pop punk

Re: bridge pick up for pop punk

I put my money on the JB for the guitar that you have... and many other for that matter. To me.. and this is just IMO.. the JB is about as versatile as it gets, especially in a strat body. Does great rock, metal tones, my band does some green day and blink 182 also.. and it cleans up pretty well too. If you can match it with a Jazz in the neck... it's like heaven lol

JB i'd have thought, I have the jnr model in my strat and you can get some good Blink-182 "Enema of the State" and Green Day "Dookie" tones with it.

Re: bridge pick up for pop punk

JB or Custom, I much prefer the Custom though, especially if you are playing only rhythm.

Re: bridge pick up for pop punk

I think a TB5 (Duncan Custom trembucker) is what you want, letterbomb
listen to some clips, but for pop-punk/metal tones in a skinny strat body it'll be hard to beat. Check out the JB and Distortion as well, for comparative purposes...

Re: bridge pick up for pop punk

I didn't know that DeLonge never recorded with his signature strats.

I prefer a Distortion, but a Custom could do well too.

Re: bridge pick up for pop punk

thanks

at the moment im thinking of just using the volume, no tone will this make the sound better or worse?

Re: bridge pick up for pop punk

As long as he was recording with Jerry Finn, he'd use guitars that Jerry brought to the studio. Most of Enema of the State and Take Off Your Pants and Jacket were recorded with Les Pauls. He said in a more recent interview that he didn't record with his signature guitar (at that point the 333) until AVA and the post self-titled blink stuff. So that blink guitar sound on all those records is more than likely a Les Paul with either PAFs or mini-humbuckers. He also talks about using a regular strat for the clean parts.

My vote is for the Custom. I've got it in a '72 Tele Deluxe and it really covers a lot of ground as already mentioned here by a few people. You can get a nice clean sound and it rips too.
