Bridge pickup for Jackson KVX10

I'm looking for a SD pick up for a KVX10, but I'm more or less stuck between the JB and the Distortion. I like the JB, but I'm looking for something a bit meaner and a bit more round and full, if that makes sense. The guitar is made of alder with a bolt on maple neck and a rosewood fretboard, which goes into a 5150. I play mostly Metallica and Megadeth and other bands of that same sound. Any suggestions on either pickup, or perhaps a different one?

Cheers!

craka,the KVX10 has a distortion in it
it is the duncan designed HB-103 MIK version and should be pretty exact to the USA duncan distortion from what i hear?

The SH-5 Custom would get you the tone you're looking for. It's similar to the JB, except more aggressive with a fuller bass (i.e. more balls :headbang: ).

Re: Bridge pickup for Jackson KVX10

So the Duncan Designed pickups are as good as the original Duncans? I've seen that a lot of people are fans of the Invader as well, but is that something you'd want in an Alder guitar? If the stock pickups are that good versus the original, well I guess I don't have to worry about it then!

Well if you would feel like you would have a better piece of mind with a USA made duncan then by all means get one
but according to seymour duncan INC the duncan designed ones are spec'd exactly the same but are made in korea instead of the USA which really is not a big deal anymore :laugh2:
seriously the korean made stuff is real good but is less expensive due to the labor they pay their workers!
here is a list

im pretty sure the designed ones are the exact same as a DD

Re: Bridge pickup for Jackson KVX10

I have the same guitar, IMO the Custom is better than the JB or DD in that guitar for any type of Metal sound.
The tech that installed my pup has a Jackson RR5, that had a Dimebucker in it.
He replaced the Dimebucker with the Custom after playing mine.

The HB-103s are good pups, I put those in a Schecter Omen 6

The JB is a good pup, but it didn't work for the sound I was looking for in those guitars.

Duncan Custom...Pretty much exactly halfway between a DD and A JB, but woth a set of brass Balls that neither has ;)

Re: Bridge pickup for Jackson KVX10

Thanks guys.......I'll try it out with the pickups that are in it and see how it goes. I was under the impression that the DD ones were good, but just not the same quality as the original SD. I had one in my RX10D, but honestly I never gave it a fair chance, I just assumed it wasn't that good and replaced it with an EMG81, which to my ear, kinda sucked. Oh well, you live and learn!
