I originally tried a JB/Jazz in my Epi and pretty much had the same results. Kinda nasaly, with no real "depth" to it. No low end and that LP "crunch" was missing. I finally went with the C5 and never looked back.

All LP's (most...) have a middy thing about them, as opposed to a strat. It's what makes them a Paul. If you like it, emphasise it. If not, you need something with a "scooped" eq. That would be any of your classic PAF styles. A2P, 59, PG. Still, the PG has an upper-mid thing you may not like. The Customs may be more to your liking as they are mainly PAF beefed up sort of affairs. Except...the CC. It is a MONSTER mid pup. Not that upper nasally place - just mid in general.
