Bridge Pickup for The Darkness sound?

Hiya,

I'm looking to upgrade the bridge pickup in a PRS Tremonti SE (mahog with rosewood finger). I'm aiming for a The Darkness sorta sound. I love the Friday Night tone. I'm currently looking at the SD Custom Custom, but any other suggestions would be great.

Cheers

I'm pretty sure they use stock Les Pauls with the 490/498's. So that'll get you started. I'd go with either a '59 or a Duncan Custom. Depends on your amp alot really.

"Dan Hawkins / The Darkness
Pickup Models : SH-5?"

This is from the SD Database.. the SH-5 is the Custom.

Note SD's 21-day return policy...

Welcome to the boards!

Re: Bridge Pickup for The Darkness sound?

Custom or Custom 5 if you want a bit rounder highs and less midrange bite.

Re: Bridge Pickup for The Darkness sound?

I know that Dan uses the Custom in some of his guitars and the stock pickups in other Standards. Justin's are stock, meaning either a '57 or the 498T depending on the guitar.

Re: Bridge Pickup for The Darkness sound?

thanks all for the replies and the welcome, i might have to give the custom a go
the only thing tho, i've heard the custom is a bit restrictive, ie it only really suits classic rock. is it versatile enough to at least dabble in a few other genres like metal n the like?

edit: after my perousal of the artist database, it seems it should be fine for versatiliy.

Definately. The custom, and the custom series in general, are probably some of the most versitile pick ups on the market.

any PAF will do. Even a more progressive pickup like the JB can do it.

Their tone is pretty simple to cop.
