Bridge pickup on Neck position

Read a lot about putting a bridge pickup on neck position but never actually tried one. Until i get a guitar with a Jazz Model Bridge on neck.
The bridge pickup is a Duncan Pearly Gates with Alnico2 and 8.21K output, while the Jazz Bridge has Alnico 5 and 8.4K output. Yes, neck hotter than bridge...
The pickup sounds a little muddy actually most of the time, although not being louder than the PG on the bridge. Maybe with a hotter bridge it wouldnt be a big problem, but im in love with that PGb, not willing to change it! Highly recommended.
Yesterday i was trying to get a nice tone with it, got my POD HD500 and made a patch with a Marshall Plexi, a boost pedal and put a little of reverb.
The knobs on the Marshall was something like drive on around 6, presence around 6, bass on 2,5, mid and treble about 6˜7. The boost pedal was there do to his job: a clean boost to push the amp (yeah i know, its not a valve amp, but it works).
With the guitar volume on 10 it was VERY muddy and really terrible, but then i started to play with the volume knob. I use a PRS SE Singlecut with CTS A500k and PRS Treble Bleed MOD on the volume pot.
With the volume between 3 and 7 i've managed to get since a clean to a crunch and a distorted sound:

Really liked the results and wanted to share, since i haven't seen any demos of bridge pickups on neck when i searched.

Re: Bridge pickup on Neck position

I have used many different pickup combinations over the years. I had an SG where I put a hot Dimarzio in the neck and a hotter one in the bridge. It was a great rock guitar. I don't often listen to what "should" be....I just try it.

Should work just fine. The rough cast will give it a more complex top end too. A4 would also probably work.

To me would be Simple to Decide : If the Guitar never goes out in public , like used for Recording or Developing stuff it could probably be worked around .
If it will go out in Public ( as in Giggin' ) , I would maybe do what the 2 posts Directly above mine suggest . but I have Alot of Guitars .

Option 3 ~ ( like what jtees4 said + maybe it wont sound like other guitars and make Your Tone unique to U .

In neck position an A2 works fine too depending on wood it could suit better than A3, actually you'd have a APH1b.

APHs are probably my favourite HB pickups, I have a set with A2 at the bridge and A3 at the neck

It goes out often... I'm really tempted to swap in an A3 or an A2, specially after that:

But the point on suggesting the A3 actually is, i think, to remove that muddy feel and the "tubbyness", since the A3 is way less stronger than A5 and with some interesting character for me.
I really like the APH-1 and Slash's APH-2, maybe swapping it for a A2 would be better...don't know
(oh, its a mahogany body and neck with rosewood fretboard)

Re: Bridge pickup on Neck position

A3 and A2 are similiar flavours, the A3 has a bit less bass, it depends a lot on how the guitar sounds unplugged
