Bridge PU for Les Paul

Re: Bridge PU for Les Paul

from what i've read, a C5 in an SG is classic- the C5 is a thicker pickup with lots of bass/low mids and treble, and an SG has got lots of upper mids, so it's a very complementing setup.
Do you think it would be a better choice than the '59? I know the Gibson Angus Young Signature Model uses a '57 Classic in the neck, (Alnico II) and his Signature PU in the bridge. I think the AYoung uses enamel coated wire and Alnico V magnets with high output. So the C5 seems to be a great choice for AC/DC tones. Can I just solder on a cover, (my C5 has exposed coils). Or would it be easier to remove the cover on my PGn in my SG?

In the bridge of LP's, I like a '59B with 250K pots. You get more warmth from the pots, and get to keep the bite & cut of an A5.

You need a little scooped, clear sounding, lower output HB for - I think 59 is the one.

the 59b, imo, is the best production bridge pup that duncan makes. use it and dial mids in on the amp to taste

Re: Bridge PU for Les Paul

The Les Paul is PERFECT with the PGn and '59 bridge with Alnico II magnet!!!

I put the Alnico V magnet in the Custom Custom to make a C5. I put that in the bridge of my SG and love it!!! My next question is should I put a cover on it or remove the cover my my neck PGn?? I like the look of the covers, but not sure I want to install one on the C5. It looks OK with one neck cover and one exposed coil, but another side of me wants the two PU to match. What do you guys think?

I would like to add one, but don't want to introduce squeel due to a loose fit/no wax. Is it easier to remove one or add one?
