Bright-twangy (Tele) sound in a Les Paul: Pickup suggestions?

Re: Bright-twangy (Tele) sound in a Les Paul: Pickup suggestions?

I've never gotten Tele out of anything but a Tele. There is magic in a classic Tele bridge. My Tele got destroyed, and the only reason I haven't replaced it is that I don't gig with non-whammy guitars. But it was a great recording guitar.

Although the thread is 10 years dead, it is worth noting that you can get Tele-ish sounds out of a LP. The typical lighter historic level guitar has that combed midrange type inherent tone, plus an accurate PAF clone will have that present tone that gives the 'fat tele' type tone. Like the fatter end of the broadcaster pickup.
Of course there is a zing that only the tele has.....but of course in a LP you are generally only looking for 'tele-esque'.
