Brightest strings

Hi,

I've got a dark sounding guitar, and I want to try some very bright strings on it. I was gonna go get some EB Cobalts, but before I do, I would like to hear some other suggestions.

Thanks.

Re: Brightest strings

I have NEVER played anything nearly as bright as the Cobalts I tried. It was enough to make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.

Believe me, if they were as rust resistant as they claim to be, especially after all this time running the Elixirs, I'd be paying $20 a set for them. It was like there was a blanket over my amp that they tore through with a spear.

Have you tried using a string cleaner every time you finish playing? With your acid sweat, it might help you save some money on strings.

Any SS string is beyond bright. The Dads SS are horrendous.

Have you tried different string saddles? Aluminum and Titanium will brighten up a guitar.

Re: Brightest strings

D'Addario ProSteels stainless steel strings. They don't eat up frets either. I e-mailed the company once and a rep said they didn't and plus I've played those strings more than once. They have a textured feel that can feel rough at first, but you can get used to it. You may even like it. ProSteels are D'Addario's brightest strings.
