I really wonder how one of these would sound in my PRS.

I am hoping to have time to drop mine into a PRS this weekend. I will let you know.

Re: Brobucker Reviews

I am considering ordering one for my Parker Fly Deluxe. I'll have to send an original pickup to have it rebuilt to those specs, though.

I have two custom shop reworked pups in it now, made to CC/A2P specs. The CC is still a bit bright for my taste.

What do you think the Brobucker would sound like in a poplar body Parker paired with an A2P?

If it is a good piece of wood? Balanced.

This pup seems to let you really hear the wood, the player, PLUS the pup, not the other way around. Very good lows. Very clean sounding.

I thought SD was making those (Parker pups) as a specialty pup now?

I'll start by saying that my review is very similar to Gearjoneser's review that I read a week or so ago...

Finally got the Brobucker into the bridge of my Gibson SG today....Took the cover off to expose those nice dual creme bobbins....I Like the shinier, darker Dimarzio covers better though but...It pairs very nicely with the DMZ VPAF I still have in the neck.

I Like this pickup alot....Reminds me of a much ballsier 59B pickup but not the C5...Compared to the VPAF Hot,this BB has less mids,is smoother(Like most Duncans)...Nice eq overall...Ballsy,articulate,nice lows, mids are perfect, chimey but not toppy highs, warm, and smooth....The pickup is tight but it has this really nice cleanliness about it that I Liked even though it's a ballsier 10k pickup in specs....Fat and articulate...The mids are slightly eq'd up but not like a JB pickup etc...

Has this cool custom shop vibe in that the pickup sounds like it was in fact wound by someone that really knows how to wind a great pickup....It's very much a great 59B pickup but just offers more of what I Like about the 59B...

Sustain is very easy to get and I Like this pickup over the VPAF Hot and only because the mids are scooped a bit and this pickup has a smoother and warmer tone....The A5 seems great in this pickup and I wouldn't change it...

This pickup is very similar to the VPAF Hot,but has less mids and slightly less output....Both are A5 and rated for 10k....The BB lacks that 3D quality of the VPAF Hot but I still like it alot....The BB has more of what I feel a great PAF pickup should have....It's ballsy, stronger lows, mids are eq'd flatter, nice highs.....Overall great job by MJ on this one...Glad I own one...It's really nice!

I'll use the VPAF Hot in the bridge of one of my H/S/S strats and it's also a great pickup...

This Brobucker measures 10.2k and is perfect in my SG....Not too bright and in no way too dark....It just sings through my Marshall amp!

Kudos to MJ and everyone involved in making this pickup happen!

I'm looking forward to see how you will compare it to the VHPAF, I have a feeling that these 2 pickups are quite alike.

After playing some time with the pickup I must say that it really rocks!
It can do anything, it barks and growls when playing rythem and it sings when I play leads. It has a superb bottom end that gives you a nice 'thump/chug'.
Clean it sounds really good too, sparkly an chimey.
This pickup is the perfect middle ground, it's really balanced sounding.
Seymour Duncan's true all-rounder!

I'm really curious about what mr. Duncan himself thinks of this pickup?

Yep....Similar to the VPAF Hot but with less mids.I feel the BB is warmer and smoother compared to the VPAF Hot which is louder and more aggressive and direct by comparison..

Re: Brobucker Reviews

Nice review, John. Another happy customer.

Last night I put the Jazz neck in with the Brobucker. MUCH better match. I've always been a fan of the Jazz neck and have used it for years with several different bridge pickups with no problems. It proved once again to be old faithful. Now all I need is a nickel cover for it.

What blows me away about the Brobucker is how soft it can be and how outright mean it can be. The versatility is awesome. Granted, it's not Custom or JB as far as output goes but it sure has enough to make you think twice.

I have a Jazz N zebra here at home that I need to try.....I Left the covers off of the BB and the VPAF N....I just swapped the VPAF Hot for the BB....I Like the VPAF Hot as much also...

Thanks for the review, I really want to try out the VHPAF one day, once I get another guitar.
And I will get another soon :fingersx:

I really dig the lower output of the brobucker, it brings out the dynamics of my playing better it seems.

Going to swap the '59n for a Jazz to get a better balanced set :reporter:

Haven't tryed it yet,but I get the feeling that a Jazz N would be a great match for the BroBucker...I do have a Jazz here at home....I think I'd like another Jazz/59 A4 Hybrid even better?

Re: Brobucker Reviews

man that sounds kewel!!! shouldve jumped on it when i had the dough. how does it compare to the s- deco? or like to the hybrids? im still looking for a suitable bridge pickup, and this baby sounds like one i should have tried!!!

Re: Brobucker Reviews

Arrived Yesterday, thanks again to MJ, Evan, Scott and all others that made this possible.... esp Curly who put the "bro" in my bucker :beerchug:

As soon as it´s in something, I´ll let y´all know ;)

Re: Brobucker Reviews

cool, Zerb

I was wondering when that would get there.

I'm sure you'll like it from what we've heard so far, and I'll be interested to hear what you think.

Re: Brobucker Reviews

It was a special edition made for forum members. A one time deal. But it should be possible to order one from the custom shop. That is my intent.

Re: Brobucker Reviews

I've been playing this pickup for a few weeks now, and it's quickly becoming one of my favorite pickups ever. One thing I noticed is that it has a very Angus Young sound to it.....almost like it would be his signature pickup. After noticing that, I started playing AC/DC riffs, and voila, there's the tone! I'd love to hear this pickup in a 61 Reissue SG!

Mmmm, yep! I noticed the same thing, started playing ACDC again since it almost right on the money. This would be killer in an SG!

Re: Brobucker Reviews

Same here. AC/DC seems to be dripping out of the thing with the amp set right. It also has some great Free characteristics. Can't wait to play "All Right Now" through the Marshall with it. My wife mentioned to me over the weekend, "I wonder how it would sound in your homemade." LOL..Well, it's not coming out of my LP so to find out I'd need another one. :D

Re: Brobucker Reviews

Well, hi guys!

All this talk about the BroBucker has gotten me seriously interested. From listening to the soundclips, it sounds very dynamic and "open for the guitar player's opinions". That might be the stupidest thing you've ever heard, and i wholeheartedly agree. It's just the best words i could use :). It also seems to have that magic "bloom" and vocality to it, which i think sounds great, almost if it was alive!

THOUGH! Keep in mind that i've never played the pickup, i've just listened to all the clips. Don't flame me because i'm saying that the pickup is something it's not, i just tried to describe how my ears percieved it.

Anyway, let's get to the point. Is it too late to order one now? Or in a month? The BroBucker is the only pickup i've been really G.A.S'ing for, if you know what i mean, and it would mean alot to me to own one.

EDIT: Also, about how much does it cost? Just wondering ;)

I'd appreciate it if anyone could answer my question. Sorry if i'm corrupting the thread, in that case, i'll move my post.

Thanks,
-Erlend
