Broken mounting leg of humbucker.

I'm opening this thread HOPING someone has one. I broke off one of the mounting legs from an ibanez bridge pickup INF4 while doing a customs build. Was wondering if ANYONE who views this thread has one that is just lying around that they wouldn't mind just giving away. I am located in mississippi in the U.S. Thank You.

Re: Broken mounting leg of humbucker.

What does the baseplate look like and what is the poles spacing?

Re: Broken mounting leg of humbucker.

nah glue isnt going to fly on an with that small of an adhesion edge. If you are desperate and have a propane torch you can brass braze it. Would strongly advise removing the baseplate first and you are going to need another piece with a 90 degree bend in it to place behind it so you can get enough adhesion area. Would be a painfully ugly fix. Way more than a new baseplate from mojotone would be.

Re: Broken mounting leg of humbucker.

Oh or if you have a friend who works in a body shop have them try GM panel adhesive on it... But its such a small edge I think it would require a support 90 behind it no matter what you use.

Re: Broken mounting leg of humbucker.

Luckily, you're on the website of a company that sells aftermarket pickups. :fing2:

Re: Broken mounting leg of humbucker.

I have one, but I don't know what the spacing is. Its from a Epiphone bridge pickup.

I could care less about spacing even though this one was F spacing. It's only a fraction of a centimeter anyway. Do you know what resistance it is?

Re: Broken mounting leg of humbucker.

Dude, you can solder it back on.

Trust me, I did this with some pickups I was installing in a Carvin. I wanted to preserve the 3-screw angle adjustment I had with the Carvin pickups but the SDs I was installing used the standard height-only adjustment screws... so I snipped the legs off the baseplates of both pickups and soldered the Carvin legs to the SD baseplates. Worked like a charm.

Re: Broken mounting leg of humbucker.

you could always buy a new base plate or buy an oem pickup from china on ebay for like 5 bucks and swap the base plates

Standard electrical solder? Was this before the removal of lead?

So used the standard Rosin Core solder for that? I have some for my electronics when they come in. Only thing is now, how would I get the old super glue off it?

Re: Broken mounting leg of humbucker.

I just used the same electrical solder that I wire things up with. I imagine the heat will take care of your glue problem... but uh, don't breathe the fumes.

On second thought, just buy a new baseplate. They are the cheap, as previously stated.

Re: Broken mounting leg of humbucker.

I've got the parts you need if you really want to fix it, but I'd just replace the pickup, those are pretty bad anyway. If you really like it I'll bet you can find a good one for a couple bucks on ebay.

You have the same baseplate? Or pickup?

Re: Broken mounting leg of humbucker.

I have a set of INF's that I ganked all the useable stuff out of for other uses. Baseplates and coils are still together.

Re: Broken mounting leg of humbucker.

I PUT SOME JB Weld on the pickup leg that broke and let it set for about 8 hours and it HELD!!!! I was able to find the JB QUICK for this application and it really works on BRASS. Now to the next question for this build im doing. What gauge wire do you use when wiring your guitars from scratch?
