BTMN GOTW#7 More Mahogany Love....

BTMN

LifeIsGoodologist
This time I have a friend's bone stock '75 Gibber V to share. Some nice looking and sounding Mahogany. He got it at the Orlando Guitar Show last January IIRC. I had it for about a week recently. I understand it just left for a new home elsewheres. Great playing little V. Sounded good unplugged too.

Came home from work after having it a week and had a message on my machine from the owner that his "house must have been broke into cause his V was gone and he wasn't sure what else".... :scratchch :eyecrazy: :ok:

I call him up and ask, "you mean the V in my livingroom?"... :dunno: :1:

In the rush of Thanksgiving and maybe a lil to much wine the night I borrowed it caused the misplacement issues. :13: :23: He had to call the cops back having filed a report I guess. :naughty:

YUM!!! :scratchch :approve: :headbang:

The body is only 1.25 inches. My Deans are 1.5, my Hamer Korina Vector is 1.75.... Prefer thicker the better.

Very nice indeed. I would think thinner would be better. My 93 SG Special was pretty thin and with the Jazz/JB it was smoking.

A weird design... the neck doesn't appear to be tilted back resulting in the neck pickup being so high out of the body that you'd have to question why they didn't just make it thicker.

Re: BTMN GOTW#7 More Mahogany Love....

That's like a "SG V" with the thin body. That thing sounds good?

Re: BTMN GOTW#7 More Mahogany Love....

It sounded real good. If it wasn't rare and $4K+ I might have liked it a lot. I understand this is the '67 V design. That neck looked great. So great I thought it looked like it belonged on a nice thick LP double cut guitar. I put that neck joint shot in especially to discuss it. It "looked" funky but was essential I felt to how the guitar worked. It was a thick neck too yet the guitar was not neck heavy. It had a lil piece of wood in the crux of the V's curve like a lock between the two body pieces. Forgot to get a shot of it. though. :dunno:

Very nice looking 'Flying V'--man! you have played some real sweet looking guitars!

Thanks guys. This was a fun guitar. Alas it should be in New York by now I'm told.

Cant decide for next week, pointy or traditional style? :scratchch
