Bucking frequencys

Re: Bucking frequencys

If humbucker doesn't cancel 60 hz hum , i believe air-bucker cancel air cause when i play it i can't breese anymore !

Re: Bucking frequencys

Some of you may remember one of the early computer programs from the 70s- You asked it questions, it would ask for more information, and in time it would make 'profound' statements- However under the hood, all the algorthem was looking at was the syntax, not word meaning- So it was really creating random statements that were gramatically correct but sometimes factual, and sometimes innane-

There was a way to 'test' the program and it always worked- You just kept asking it questions and never providing more raw data- In time it would have to keep making statements based on the data it already had and it either started repeating itself, or started making statments that were clearly absurd.

I wonder what would happen if we only respond with questions that have no new data? Might be fun and I will start the ball rolling...

Walters, why are you interested in pickups?

Re: Bucking frequencys

I think I made a mistake on " breese" , I am so ashamed I can't breeze anymore :laugh2: :laugh2:
I think Walter is not interested in pickup , it is the pickup that interested in him , he's got a pickup attack :chairfall

Re: Bucking frequencys

Is a humbucker a comb filter?

Does a humbucker have frequency peaks/notches?

Does a humbucker phase cancel out frequencys?

Walters, why are you interested in pickups?

I have thought the same thing. :reporter:

Re: Bucking frequencys

Whats the difference if i put 2 single coil pickups next to each other VS a humbucker pickup?

A humbucker pickup= 2 single coil pickups in parallel

answer-1, 2 singles will reject output, the magnets push on each other and dip the overall output.

answer-2 Humbuckers are "in-series"

Re: Bucking frequencys

Thanks

Humbuckers are "in-series"

Are humbuckers like 2 single coils "in-series"?

What are the polaritys of the coils "in series" in a humbucker?

Re: Bucking frequencys

Question-3-Are humbuckers like 2 single coils "in-series"?

Question-4-What are the polaritys of the coils "in series" in a humbucker?

Answer-3- yes and no - best to use one- RW/RP and one regular single coil when you do this, Thats because they will have too much 60 cycle hum if you do not , that would be because the magnet direction is the same, So a RW/RP is needed, Still the over all output of this combo of two single will be lower the a simple single coil on its own, The single coil will be louder because its magnetic field is not disrupted,

Answer-4- North and South _ Via' the shared bar magnet

Re: Bucking frequencys

Thanks for being nice Rev

What does the shared bar magnet do different than using 2 seperate magnets?

Why does a humbucker use RW/RP Reverse wind/Reverse polarity then Forward wind/reverse polarity or Reverse wind/forward polarity?

Whats the difference between all these
1.) Reverse wind/Reverse polarity
2.) Forward wind/Reverse polarity
3.) Reverse wind/Forward polarity

They all seem to produce 180 degress out of phase
Whats the difference between all of them please?

Re: Bucking frequencys

Comment-1- Thanks for being nice Rev.

Comment's Answer -1- Sorry I was ever otherwise, I learned I was wrong in my recent replys, Your not intentionaly out provoking anyone -- I understand-- God Bless you sir!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Question-5- What does the shared bar magnet do different than using 2 seperate magnets?

Answer-5- saves money and allows for smaller designs. ( A More agressive Ceramic Humbucker can use 3 magnets- one normal north south shared magnet and then on the otside of the pole pieces the use a skinny north on one side and a south on the other, these skinny magnets replace the wooden or plastic support blocks.

Question-6-Why does a humbucker use RW/RP Reverse wind/Reverse polarity then Forward wind/reverse polarity or Reverse wind/forward polarity?

Answer-6- when the magnet goes oppisite the wind you have very little output.

Question-7-Whats the difference between all these
1.) Reverse wind/Reverse polarity
2.) Forward wind/Reverse polarity
3.) Reverse wind/Forward polarity
Answer-7- Is that answer "6" ends any need for question 7 ( I hope )

Question -8-They all seem to produce 180 degress out of phase
Whats the difference between all of them please? answeIs that

Answer-8- See answer "6" it ends any need for question 8 too--( again I hope )

Re: Bucking frequencys

Why does the magnet goes opposite the wind you have very little output?
Does the wind and magnet oppose eachother thats why the output is little?

When Coil tapping the pickup does the phase degree Change?

What disrupt's the magnetic field?

How do i Disrupt the magnetic field?

Re: Bucking frequencys

Note:
After this round of questions ,
I'll have to go offline untill tomorow,
I'm off to play guitar in Fullerton Ca. at "The Tropic's" on Commonwealth Ave.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Question-9-Why does the magnet goes opposite the wind you have very little output?

Answer-9- it puts the magnetic feild under the pickup -- instead of under the strings.

Question-10-Does the wind and magnet oppose each other thats why the output is little?
Answer-10- Hey you're Very Smart! -- I think thats right.

Question -11- When Coil tapping the pickup does the phase degree Change?

Answer-11- No, But if you have an out of phase coil on a blender you could simulate something of that nature ( sonicially ) but not from an engineering standpoint.

Question -12- What disrupt's the magnetic field?

Answer -12- Magnets push and pull on one another - therefore if you place them too closely together they will interuped their individual fields.

Question -13- How do i Disrupt the magnetic field

Answer -13 - By introducing another magnet or metal into its field.

Sorry I have to sign off,

I hope you have a nice night sir,

Rev D
