Don't wear anything at all, except for maybe a t-shirt and maybe a skirt, a short one - and do some Yngwie kicks so folks can see what you got.
Or wear the guitar up high Tom Morello/Vernon Reid style, which I think looks cool especially becasue that is how I have to wear my guitar, as I can't play well when it's slung low.
Actually, I'd say wear nothing at all except for the guitar - worn up high.

I don't wear pants that necessitate a belt too often, however, all of my guitars have jean rivet worming.

Only reason I know of this is they run an ad in every guitar mag every month. I have not used this product, I do not know anything with regards to it's quality.

I'd hardly call mahogany a soft wood. What you see on a Gibson is the finish wearing… nitro never cures to a super hard finish like poly.
I don’t mind a little buckle rash or rivet worming, or whatever you want to call it (I personally call it character). I suggest playing in an untucked t-shirt. If it’s cold, wear long johns.

Simplest, cheapest, easiest, most convenient, and MOST effective way to eliminate damage to the back of your guitar...
Tuck a small hand towel in the front of your pants and let it hang down in front of your buckle. You can also use it for a sweat rag to kill 2 birds with one stone.

I wouldn't say I trash my guitars, but I've never been too concerned about scratches or whatnot. I buy guitars to play, not as investments. I also usually buy used guitars that already have their share of scratches. On my #1 '81 Les Paul, I wore the finish off where my arm rubbed on the top edge and the strap wore away the finish on the back edge near the button. My '71 Standard has the wear you would expect to see on a guitar that looks like it spent 30+ years knocking out bar-band covers.
