Building a Pedal board

After reading the threads about the Peter Cornish pedal boards and Rich_S's board (which is sweet btw) I started to have some pedal board gas. So I went looking on the internet to find materials to use. That is when I can across this site. If you are planning on building a pedal board please DO NOT follow this advice.

http://www.engadget.com/2005/07/12/how-to-build-your-own-pedal-board/ Duct tape? Really? Come on....

It kind of makes you appreciate the good advice found on this board.

Peace,

That's completely stupid.

I either use velcro or just bolt them directly to the board. The latter is definitely the best way if you can do it. You need to remove the screws on the bottom of the housing, take them to the hardware store and find matching long shaft bolts, drill holes in your board, then bolt through the board into the pedal. Your pedals will never come off, which depending on your point of view is great, or terrible.

Re: Building a Pedal board

Well, it's a board...and there are pedals on it....no doubt about either of those facts right there....

:laugh2:

I just bought a CoreOne pedalboard, a powerstrip, a OneSpot, and some pedals. One, two, three, four pedalboard. I dunno, you might want to guitargeek this shizznit.

You may also want to check here and here.

My thinking exactly!

Re: Building a Pedal board

I bought a used pedalboard case recently from ebay. It had a soft fabric bottom that's supposed to be velcro ready. I had an upholstery biz so I use the 'good' stuff, not the import crap. it did'nt stick....so....duct tape!:27: you know what? It holds like a SOB. I'm using all 9 volt power supply so I don't have to remove to change batteries. With my foam fitted lid, these pedals are stuck. Cheeesy, yeah, but you don't see 'em and it works...for me.

Re: Building a Pedal board

Industrial strength Velcro or 3M Dual Lock, you'll never have to worry about your pedals not sticking after it ;)

Re: Building a Pedal board

Any one know where I can get some of the foam stuff to cover the bottom of the board with? I want to hide all of my cables.

Re: Building a Pedal board

i use a board made by NYC pedalboards- its great! the bottom is covered in the loop part of velcro. the velcro sticks to the board just fine, but not to the pedals so much. I could just cement it on, but some pedals have battery access on the bottom...and some, like my Behringer FCB-1010, has large feet that velcro won't stick to. I am still trying to figure out a way to attach it all that will stay yet be easy to remove if I want to.

Re: Building a Pedal board

The NYC Pedalboards are great, but after a couple years, the glue on mine has weakened in some places, causing the velcro to come off the plywood.

Re: Building a Pedal board

see? Duct tape will solve all your problems. My old home made board was a bent piece of aluminum. I covered it with headliner fabric (local auto upholstery supplier) and velcro stuck to that like glue! If I have time, I may glue some in my new board and go legit...with velcro. But I tell ya, duct tape works and I know how to remove the glue. All my pedals had rubber feet, had to take 'em all off.

Re: Building a Pedal board

my pedalboard is really unique but look stupid..i'm using a used headliner crash cymbal as the base and i made i few holes and i bolt all the pedals on it..with its weight it wont move around and feels good when u step on the pedal..seriously,it looks really stupid..
