I just put my Antiquites back into the R8 tonight and compared to the R7 with the BB 1 and 2. Hmm... Antiquities are the ticket. The BB 1 and 2 are really good, no doubt, but the Antiquities have better string definitition, just better tone. Not like night and day diffrences, but more on the subtle side. I'd say the BB's are more like Seths than Antiquities.

Can't go wrong with any of them.

I'll find out tonight how well I like them, as *it* has arrived at my work, and sitting next to my desk as I type. I'm as giddy as a schoolgirl to open up the box, but it' s full of packing peanuts, and I dont wanna make a mess here

I am with Scott_F regarding the antiquities. Have 4 of them, all double cremes! :laugh2: Non-covered 8.75K, 8.65K, 7.70K and a covered 7.55K. But I generally prefer an a5 magnet in the bridge. I love the dun-aged a2 in the neck but when I need more clarity (depending on the particular LP in question) I go with a3's in the neck. They are definitely excellent pickups that stand tall against and don't get beaten by any of the boutique PAF clones I have owned so far (timbuckers, voodoo's, rolphs, and fralins).

Thanks Doc. I hope I like 'em too. I'd love to go with some antuiquities, but since this is not a reissue/classic or similar, I think the antiquities would look a little strange in the axe due to their aged finish...(and I prefer the look of nickel covers vs. exposed coils, so I wouldn wanna jes take the covers off).

We'll see...err..hear?
