Creamy is a good description for the CC. Syrupy is another good description.

It's a great pickup with a broad and pronounced midrange and a very vocal tone. It does remind me a bit of EVH's tone but I can get alot of differant tones out of mine too.

I don't hear it as having the same big bass response and treble of an alnico 5 pickup like the JB or Custom 5 or the ceramic magnet Custom, although it has a full tone and enough bass for most applications.

You're gonna love it. It can get pretty good classic EVH tones, more in the Fair Warning / 1984 area though. With a few tweaks of the amp's EQ, it can get the tone from the first few albums. The bass is there, just not as hot as others. Definitely more than the JB. Not as tight as the Custom but a little "loose" I should say, that nice low-end crunch.

Listen to the clips of my Kramer and my LP. Both have the CC. The Kramer clip is through my little Crate GX-15 and the LP clip is through my Marshall.

You think the Custom Custom has more bass than the JB? I don't hear my CC's that way...but I've never compared the CC and the JB side by side in similar guitars. Just going on my memory. :) Lew

Yup. :) I've put the CC and JB in the same guitar (my alder frankenstrat) and the CC had a lot more bass to it than the JB. The JB was there, but not as present. I think that high mid spike of the JB overpowers the bass whereas the low mid spike of the CC helps enhance the bass. These are my observations though with one guitar. Well, actually two, I've had both in my Kramer too and there's more bass in that one as well with the CC. It has to be those low mids that do it.

I have used a JB and CC in the same guitar. I think the JB has about equal bass response....thing is the JB's bass is tighter than the CC. The midrange of the CC really gives the low end of the 2 pickups a different flavor...but they are about equal to my ear.

They are my 2 fav bridge pickups. Along with the 59.

Re: buying a CC will i dig it?

It cuts thru with rude attitude like a JB but it is muuuuuch creamier with rounder highs and more focus in the lower mids. The low end is not as tight as the JB
