I had the same problem with my parents when I wanted to buy something off eBay. However I managed to convince them that eBay and Paypal have Buyer Protection programs so there are ways to decrease the chances that you'll get ripped off. Parents, especially those who haven't yet adapted to more modern technology and aren't that tech-smart, can often be paranoid just because they think "it's a deal over the internet, so it must be a criminal on the other side".

Speaking from experence, it has nothing to do with not being "tech smart."
It has to do with identify theift (which we've had to deal with twice.) and people managing to spoof sites near perfectly.

Its not paranoid to be inteligent, your attitude is exactly what gets people sitting on the phone for hours with their credit card company asking why their credit card just hit its limit.



Anyway, I've sold and bought many items on ebay with no problems. Though I've had issues buying stuff from websites, even reputable ones. (Some people just have no ****in clue about how to package an AMP. My peavey came to me only packaged bare in a normal 32ect c-flute box...)
