I just finished wiring my first pickguard .Its a strat. Ill post the setup. When I plug it into my amp, It won't stop buzzing. It's a loud buzz too. What could the problem be? Thanks2h_2v_1t_3w.jpg

Re: Buzzing wont stop

Is this problem on the same guitar referred to in your other thread? (HH Strat, Neck PU Vol., Bridge PU Vol., Master Tone, Telecaster style selector switch.)

Re: Buzzing wont stop

Photographs of your wiring might reveal the cause. Usually, this will be an oversight, a weak solder joint or a defective component.

Re: Buzzing wont stop

Go back and heat up all your solder joints real good, also I have found some wire I have used was prone to buzzing, not sure why just my experience, if your using alot of wire it may help to shadow and coil a ground wire around and along the longer runs, check your ground and hot wires make sure nothings touching anything it shouldn't be, and of course most importantly double check your whole wire job, I have accidentally soldered wires up wrong after long hours of messing around..it happens. also make sure you dont have a wad of wire coming in contact with the guitar cable tip when you plug it into the guitar.

Two questions.

1) How have you grounded the bridge of your Stratocaster?
2) Have you run a ground wire from the metal body of the selector switch?

One possible explanation is insufficient grounding. The other is too much. i.e. A ground loop.

All the wiring appears to be good. I double checked it. I did all those things. If it helps, the buzzing gets louder when i touch the strings? Im pretty lost. Thanks
