C# Tuning-Set Up (Action/Intonation)

So can i get my guitar set up for C# standard with .12 string gauges and have zero fret buzz and have the strings tight as if they were in standard tuning?

I need to get it set up because my lower strings are pretty flubby...I just want to make sure it is 100% possible.

Re: C# Tuning-Set Up (Action/Intonation)

Yes, 12's in C# should be close to 10's in standard, maybe a tad on the tight side, but nothing too noticable. I prefer 10's in E, 11's in D, 12's in C, and 13's in B.

Re: C# Tuning-Set Up (Action/Intonation)

Check out the Ernie Ball Not Even Slinky set. I think it goes 12,16,24,32,44,56. Definitely not gonna flub out on the bottom end :D

If that's too heavy, give the Beefy Slinky set a shot. 11,15,22,30,42,54. I use it for drop C (CGCFAD), and it's not even close to floppy.

I play bass as well so im not sure there is a "too thick" for me :)

These are what I am using now, but my guitar is not set up properly. I think these should be fine, and i have like 6 sets of them and want to use them all...what do you guys think?

Re: C# Tuning-Set Up (Action/Intonation)

Those should be fine. I prefer the Ernie Balls, as they last longer, and I don't break them as much. Not to mention, the bass strings are heavier :D

I don't think you'll have any problem with the D'Addarios, and if I had 6 sets, I'd use 'em all up, too :)

Re: C# Tuning-Set Up (Action/Intonation)

I prefer D'addarrio, as I found they don't corrode nearly as fast as EB's, and because EB's plain strings sound thin and tinny to me. I've never had any issues with string breaking, of any brands.

Different strongs for different folks ;)

Thanks for the info guys.

I have actually broken my second thickest string twice...thinking it is because of the poor setup.
