cab makers, can anyone recommend a good one for a fender replica

Re: cab makers, can anyone recommend a good one for a fender replica

well, not really---what are you looking for? There are lots of people out there who make repro cabs for the most common models (most tweeds, BFDRs, BFSRs, BFTRs, etc etc). If you want a 6x8" cab for a Princeton Reverb, you can still have somebody make it, but be prepared to pay muchas platas...check the 'Enclosures' page at Weber VST for some good makers.
BTW, nobody makes a Fender 'replica' cab complete with logo and tube chart except Fender, unless they want to end up in court.

do a search for threads I have started...one of them is about my new (old) Brown deluxe...when I got it, it was in a non original solid wood cab...I recently got it back into a pine/tolex cab and really dig it...the cab is NOT 100% fender spec but it looks great, it sounds great and the price was killer. I used JD Newell here in Atlanta...in fact Lew got a cab as did kyle both forum members here and they are both very happy as well...JD's prices are VERY reasonable and the time was 8 days on my cab, I think 10 on Kyle's and Lew got his cabb shipped to him in less than 2 weeks!

You'd still have to order a tube chart (I can get those too) and if you want tilt back legs you have to supply them for JD when he starts the cab, he also uses the wrong scrrews on the back panels but you can "fix" that for about 5 bucks...he does paint the indies of the cab black but you could get him not to if you wanted to.

If you want more details look up my thred and look at his work, if you need help feel free to PM me...

Good luck!

What are you gettin a cab for???

Yea, he got mine done in like 10 days, I guess it was. He does a great job. You can check it out I just finished my amp and posted a new thread "Vintage Vibroverb." You can see it on there.

J.D. Newell is developing a great reputation for quality product.

Mojo Tone has Fender style cabs.

Mojo does make nice Fender reproduction cabs. I've got a Tweed style and two Blackface style cabs from them. All pine, floating baffles, very nice job on the covering & details. Odd thing is that sometimes you can buy them cheaper from re-sellers like Marsh Amplification or STF Electronics than you can directly from Mojo (I've bought them both places). Also, I wouldn't swear that Mojo's cabs are exactly vintage specs. For example, there's been some disagreement about the angle of the faceplate on Blackface Fenders. What I do know is that Mojo cabs are a perfect fit for Mojo chassis.
