Cable advice

This weekend my Monster cables died on me for the third time so Monsters are out for good! I’ve narrowed down my replacement cables to two brands, Bayou and Voodoo (made by Voodoo Amps). Does anyone have any experience with these and can you tell me how they compare to each other and other brands as well?

Cheers,

CJ

Re: Cable advice

I would recommend you try George L cables. I made my pedalboard with these cables. You can cut the cable to any desired length and then just screw an end on. If the connection goes bad you can trim it and replace the end. It is not just that they are easy to "build your own", but they sound better than any other cable I have used. You can buy thin(.155) cables, made for making pedalboards, and they also have a heavier cable used to connect board to amps and board to guitars. Very cool stuff!!

Re: Cable advice

i've never tried either you mentioned but i hear voodoo are good. on the other hand i have a pro-co excalibur cable that i'm very happy with and if you shop around online you'll find them much cheaper than musicans friend sells them for and they also have a 20yr warantee.

Re: Cable advice

I've always had good luck with Pro-Co cables. I've always thought Monster cables were overpriced. Cables are the weak link, though, ya know? Eventually, they go bad.

Re: Cable advice

I've been using Zaolla cables as of Christmas, and I gotta say they sound really nice. They're kinda pricey, but I look at it as a tonal investment. I've only been using them around the house, so I can't comment on the durability issues with them.
