Cable opinions? Planet wave

Anyone have any experience with D'addario Planet wave cables?

Seems like they are known as a bang for your buck brand

I need some new cables and have a $50 amazon card.

I have a basic Planet Waves guitar cable with molded ends. It's about ten feet long. No complaints. It makes a good solid connection and is flexible enough. It also has an attached bungee cord for cable management, which is a nice touch.

I have some of the PW cables with the screw-on ends and I use them for my acoustic-electrics. Natural open tone, and no complaints as to reliability. Their American Series is supposed to be very good.

They're ok. Stay away from the ones that have that on/off button. They suck.

Just be careful of what line your buying of there's...stick to the higher range. Also, warranty is very good on them.

Spend 5 more min searching and you will find ^^

Also, the ones with the switches are more prone to break, but I haven't had one die on me. However, those ones I mainly keep in the studio since there's lots of plugging and unplugging going on.

Re: Cable opinions? Planet wave

I have some of their american stage cables & one classic series. The classic is not that durable, avoid for heavy use. The american stage is highly durable, they have a net/mesh pattern for the ground/shield conductor while the hot conductor consists of a twisted pair. Low capacitance & a little stiff, I highly recommend these if you intend them for heavy use. I bought 4 of these two or three years back, been using just one of them, still waiting on it to crap out in some manner or develop a grounding issue but no luck so far :)

Avoid the circuit breaker ones, the custom series always seemed expensive to me for offering gold plated plugs & never bothered to try them out, won't anyways since the stage ones are working great for me.

I don't play out, but I use the cheap ones at home and they survive getting stepped on by my kids. I like the molded plugs and how flexible they are. I don't remember ever having to untangle one. In general, I think most Planet Waves products are pretty good.

I like Monster Rock and Bass cables along with Groove Plugs.

I have a couple of PW patch cables, that are decent for the money. For leads and speaker cables I use Mogami, and have been for over 5 years. Tone is much more clearer and true, and I've never had an issue with the cables dying or anything. They are a bit more than the average market cable but seeing as they last forever and have a lifetime guarantee its well worth the extra money. Even studio producers insist to use my cable rather than their own one if they see my Mogami's! Coil them up properly and you'll get a lifetime use out of them probably.
