Hey guys, I'm looking for some cable suggestions and need your help. I'm on a bit of a budget (no job right now and all) so let's not get crazy here, but what I'm looking for are two solid 15-20 ft cables with 1 straight and one RA connector, that are clear and keep buzz to a minimum. they'll be used for my effects loop. I'd like to try some Lava Cables but I don't know anyone that has experience with them.

Any help would be great here. Thanks a bunch.

Re: Cable Suggestions Needed

http://spectraflex.com/ gets my vote and it's what I use. I've had loads of cables over the years and spectraflex original are still my favorite. As a bonus it makes things easy to keep track of if you buy all different colors. My send is green and return is black/white and each amp has a different color from my board to keep track of them too.

If you don't need or want super custom colors or lengths you can get them cheaper in various lengths and colors with different ends from amazon.com http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias=aps&field-keywords=spectraflex

Since you're Canadian and have access to The Big Canadian Chain That Shall Not Be Named, I'll recommend the Yorkville Studio cables. They're excellent quality, pretty reasonable on price, and have a lifetime warranty. I have a couple that are working very well in my rig.

I've had them before (and have one right now from my guitar to my board) but I've never been thrilled with them. Their lesser line are what just crapped out on me.

In all honesty, there are definitely better cables out there, but not MUCH better, and definitely not at that price.

I think I paid $45 for my 20 footer, and I have zero complaints with it.

And yeah, the bottom line Yorkie cables are trash.

My recommendation too. I love Spectraflex cables. I have a few that are going on 20 years old and I've NEVER had a problem with them.

The other guitarist in our band uses them and sweats by them too. Could be worth a look, and they seem to be at the same price points as the Lava ones I'm considering.

Re: Cable Suggestions Needed

I've used braided cables before (not Spectraflex though) and EVERY TIME they've turned into a twisted, tangled mess within five minutes of getting them out of the box.

I fully accept that maybe I'm doing something wrong with them, but that's just what happens with me and braided cables.

Re: Cable Suggestions Needed

I haven't had them twist much, but they tend to get filthy and stinky after playing gigs in bars for a while. Drinks get spilled on them and they just never recover.

Re: Cable Suggestions Needed

They also have non-braided cables if you like the traditional sleeve.

Re: Cable Suggestions Needed

I have Lava Clear Connect and love 'em. Perhaps a lower level Lava?

The Lavas are superb!

Re: Cable Suggestions Needed

That's what I'm thinking.... the Magma series may be the ticket.

I have NEVER been a 'cable guy' when it comes to guitar cables. But recent issues/dissatisfaction with Monster Cable had me looking elsewhere.

That's when I got turned onto Divine Noise. Now, I LOVE Divine Noise, but they are very dark cables. When I went to my FLGS, they recommended I try Lava Clear Connect. We did a side-by-side comparison and you can CLEARLY hear the difference between the two ...

In the end, I use a combination of Lava Clear Connect and Divine Noise, but if I could only afford/go with one cable, it would be the Lava. (Unless I was a bass player, then it would be Divine Noise all the way)

Re: Cable Suggestions Needed

Spectraflex have worked very well for me over the years. But for bang for buck Hosa does a good job.
