cable suggestions please

so my main guitar cable has a short due to everyday wear and tear. it lasted like 4 years so woot good for a 14 dollar cable.

anyway my ideal cable would sound fantastic, last a lifetime, and be on the stiff side (so it wont do that annoying coiling thing that rubber cables do)

ideally id get the Dynamic Arc Ultra made by solid cables but cant afford a cable that costs 91 bucks for the 3ft length alone. something with a similar outer covering would be great.

Re: cable suggestions please

I recommend a string a yarn tied to a peanut shell. Expensive, but the best, L;)L.

Re: cable suggestions please

just pulled the trigger on an Evidence Lyric cable. 91 buckaroos so i'm praying to god i love it for the rest of my mortal life and it lasts just that long. not bad considering 3 feet of the other cable i wanted costs the same as this

Re: cable suggestions please

Hey bro,

I buy all my cables from Spectraflex now. I don't think I'd buy another cable from anyone else. check 'em out at http://www.spectraflex.com/index.php

I like 'em cuz every cable you order is pretty much customized to suit your needs. You can choose colors, cloth covered braiding, rite angle and silent plugs. They're not too terribly expensive either, I think the price is pretty reasonable and the quality is well worth it...

I still use my first Spectraflex cable on a regular basis. Its 10 years old now and I can't recall a single hiccup.

They even lay flat and coil up nicely...

Re: cable suggestions please

Mogami! Night and Day. $50 for 18 ft. and good or bad, GC is the place to get originals but there are plenty who put them together for that personal touch and better pricing. Original packaging says Lifetime Warranty and the guy at GC said bring the card from the packaging in with the nonfuntioning cable, cable exchange, see ya. :9:

Re: cable suggestions please

i actually looked into all those brands too. thanks for the suggestions guys. cant wait for my evidence cable to get here. if it doesnt bond with me i'll be sure to pass it along to someone here

Re: cable suggestions please

Wow dude, I just check out Evidence's website... those cable are expensive!

You've gotta post a review when you get it and let us know if it was worth the price.

will do man! supposedly the difference is huge right away, but they need to be "broken in" for 40 hours ish to fully open them up. i guess i'll post first impressions and later on do an update

Re: cable suggestions please

by the way, evidence cables are cheap as dirt compared to my first choice! i wanted the Solid Cables Dynamic Arc Ultra. the 3 ft length costs the same as my 10ft evidence!

Re: cable suggestions please

I've been running a gold dimarzio cable for about 4 years now, I picked up one while I was in Atlanta just in case something happens. I don't think I can hear the difference in cables but I surely can tell the difference in build quality. I used to use some cheapie whirlwind cables didn't last too long in my last band :(

Re: cable suggestions please

Cannot go wrong with monster cable. Dang good stuff and at a reasonable price. It wont last forever but itll last a long time and sound great.
Uh-oh. Ive left myself open for a liability lawsuit by useing the words "wrong" and "monster" in the same post!

I bought a Stevie Vai cable from Musician's Friend. Excellent cable and I have had NO problems for 8 years.

Re: cable suggestions please

Always wondered about that. Know it's true for new caps in a pedal or amp. How does it apply to a new cable?

It's audiophile marketing B.S. The following post by Zachary Vex on TGP says it all for me:

It would have to be incorporated into the design criteria for exceptionally sensitive medical equipment. However, you only hear about it in audiophile forums and magazines selling snake oil audiophile gear, or more recently, in here. So what's it going to be? Is it snake oil, or is it science? Because if it's science, it affects EVERYTHING ELECTRICAL and it has principles that can be quantitatively and qualitatively described with formulas.

Formulas or forums? So far, science has not failed humanity. I'm going to stick with the scientists and engineers, and leave the cable burn-in theories to the marketers and, for a lack of a better word, and don't feel bad about this...

suckers.

Cheers,

CJ
