Cables for hookin up your monitors

I'm lookin into gettin some XLR to 1/4" cables for my KRK rokit 8's, and was wondering if you guys could give me any suggestions.

Would it be worth it to get some high-end cables for my monitors, or should I save those for microphones and instrument inputs?

I'm far too lazy to solder the cables myself. <- just for reference

Never overlook any cabling in your setup, especially when it comes to recording. The last thing you want is cheap cable giving you an unaccurate, noisy listening environment. I run Mogami to my monitors.

Your reproduction setup (monitors) should have better stuff than your production setup (guitar).

Re: Cables for hookin up your monitors

the price shouldn't be too outrageous anyway for monitor cables, unless it's necessary for you to have more than 3 feet of cable between your interface/mixer and your monitors.

go with the 3 foot mogami cables and you shouldn't have to spend much more than $40, if that.

Re: Cables for hookin up your monitors

I was thinking that they'd be pretty important ;). On the other hand I really didn't want 'em to be :laugh2: .

Only problem with mogami's is that they're actually around 33 dollars a pop for the 3 foot versions from MF:

A couple bucks more and you get the 6 footers (what i'd probably go with). So cables for my monitors would be about 72 bucks.

Take that versus the horizon cables, which are about 40 dollars cheaper, and longer. But of course, you get what you pay for. And I want accurate monitoring dammit.

33 mo****in dollas a pop!?

I made 2 for less than 20! 3 dollars a connector and .65 cents a feed at redco. use 2549 Mogami cabling.

Re: Cables for hookin up your monitors

I get my mogami's and canare's from custom cabling dudes who buy in bulk and can really make it cheap. There's a few on ebay. It saves you a ton vs. a mailorder mag that really overprice the stuff. If I remember correctly my mogami monitor cables ran around $15 for 10ft w/neutrik connectors.

Re: Cables for hookin up your monitors

aaah, i see a little difference here though. Most of the sellers are using the 2549 cable, where as the stuff on MF is the 2534 quad cable. Interesting...

Trying to look up some reviews right now...

After discovering exactly HOW MUCH money i'd be saving doing the soldering myself...I've decided to re-think my decision ;). Get some right-angle plugs on my monitors as well...that'd be nice.
