Calling all 7 string guitarists.

How many of you guys are out there on SDUGF?
I'm possibly getting my first 7 string in a few weeks and once I go seven, I plan to play them exclusively and will no longer own any 6 string electrics (although I'll be keeping my trusty Ebony fingerboard Yamaha classical guitar for a 6 string:))

Re: Calling all 7 string guitarists.

A few of us around I believe. I think I'll always own at least on 6'er but yeah I definitely love the range of more strings.

Re: Calling all 7 string guitarists.

So far i only own one 7-string but plan on going 7-string exclusive and widening my collection. I jsut can't find the money to do so ;)
What guitar is it going to be?

Re: Calling all 7 string guitarists.

I got my first 7, a carvin dc727 a few months back and it's sick. I just need to upgrade the stock pups for something more metal, but so far, so good.

I'll tell you it's kinda weird to play riffs on the 6th string with another string below it, it throws me off sometimes. It's not a really hard transition, chords are harder for me as well as just making sure I'm in the right spot relative to which strings I'm playing.

I'm not one that's going the only 7 route, but as long as I play metal, I'll have at least one 7. That added bottom end without giving up any top end is really sweet. Play some riffs that are normally on the 6th and 5th strings, but on the 7th and 6th and it will sound pretty cool.

Re: Calling all 7 string guitarists.

I've got two sevens, one standard bridge and one trem. I still play the sixers most often.

Here are my two.

Carvin Dc727 and Schecter V7.

Re: Calling all 7 string guitarists.

I wouldn't mind having a 7 around. Basswood. Hardtail. If only Dimarzio made a seven string version of the Breed...

Re: Calling all 7 string guitarists.

I had a DC747c for a while, but sold it due to the floyd rose trem. I'm not a floyd guy, and a floyd on a seven was an even bigger pain in the ass.

I'm lookin at gettin a new one. Hell, rondo music's got one right now that's tempting me:

Re: Calling all 7 string guitarists.

i like the 7 but i think i would rather have a high a than a low b just for leads alone. low b is just too much metal for me. and i'm a metal guy. but too each his own. like i say.
(there is no wrong only differnet.)

Re: Calling all 7 string guitarists.

That Rondo is HAWT but, who makes a 22 fret 7 string?

Re: Calling all 7 string guitarists.

Ibanez S Series 7 string guitars;)

Anybody else?

I really wish those Rondo's were 22 fret. Otherwise they are PERFECT!

I can handle 24 frets if it has a single bucker BTW.

So, a 22 fret 7 string or a single bucker.

I've had a few 7 strings for a good number of years now. What helped me get used to them was to play all of the other songs I learned on 6 strings just to get comfortable with an extra string being there. I'm sure you'll enjoy it, dude. Here's a pre-emptive welcome aboard for ya!! :D:D
