1973...A64225 is a '73 according to the Greg G serial number crosscheck...the tranny code matches. Clip out those 1500 pF snubber caps and it'll sound a lot better...

Thanks for the onfo. The amp does have the push/pull master volume. It's crazy loud.

Not familiar with any mods to the electronics. What will clipping out the caps do?

Well, you can have a tech do the BF phase inverter mod---more like a BF Twin. The snubber caps (and maybe a resistor) are in there on the output tube sockets (and sometimes the preamp tubes as well) to quell microphonics and oscillations because Fender paid less attention to lead dress in the 70's; also something a tech can fix pretty easily. Clipping the caps out adds a little sparkle...some people hear it, some don't. DISCLAIMER---Don't do this yourself unless you are knowledgable and experienced with safety procedures while working with high voltages inside the amp; they can be lethal. No joke...

Nice amp---have fun with it.

ES350 - thanks

I want to leave it original/ so no mods other than changing the tubes. It has new matched quad of JJ Tesla 6l6 power tubes...and 6 new new Mullard pre-amp tubes. I had all of the tube sockets, electronics and pots cleaned. Also had all of the electronics checked and solder points checked. Now it really is a sweet amp. I love it.

If I can figure out how to post pics on this site - I'll attach a few along with the monster pedal board.

Thanks again

Ben,

Quads are beats of amps...I have a 69 Twin Reverb and it's big and loud enough as is! I did a few gigs back a few years ago wiht a borrowed Quad, cool amps!

I have to ask, why the desire to keep it original??

BTW...while you're jammin, crank it a bit and I might here you here in Gwinn co.!

Re: Can anyone help DATE my 1970's Fender Quad Reverb???

The Quad is a great sounding amp---it gets the bottom end of the Twin circuit out in a way the 2x12" doesn't. Try a Super Six if you really want crazy...and a hernia taking it to the gig (I took it once).

Original is cool, but a lot of folks feel that some of the clean tone gets robbed with the cheap fixes Fender used in the 70's and I really think the BF phase inverter circuit is superior for more clean power...they sound a little muffled to me stock.

ES350 - What should I expect to pay for the mod?

The Guy who invented fire - I'm in Ball Ground, GA - I bet you can hear it!

Can one of you tell me how to insert pics in this e-mail??

Re: Can anyone help DATE my 1970's Fender Quad Reverb???

Ahh....Ball Ground, haven't been there in years! It used to be a quite little town but I hear that a dude there has a Quad Reverb...there goes the peace and quite!

Pics...you have to have them hosted by a place like webshots or photobucket then you can pist them but not before...

Re: Can anyone help DATE my 1970's Fender Quad Reverb???

Cool - I'll take some pics when I get home of the "system" in the studio.

"If it's too loud...you're too old."

Sad when the "kids" ask you to turn it down because you're shaking the toilets.......

rock-on...

I hear ya...I gigged with a Twin Reverb for years and at times even used 2 of them.

Get those pics up...I wanna see the beast!

Re: Can anyone help DATE my 1970's Fender Quad Reverb???

Well, the parts are in the range of a couple of bucks at most, and the work consists of swapping some resistors for the most part and clipping some others out...1 hour of bench time; 50-100$ at most unless you get it done in LA. Really, your local TV guy could do it...h**l, I'll do it for you for free; meet me in Phoenix.

What!? She's still single and available to play....she's a "BIG" girl...she also tends to be a little loud.

Nice amp!

Also, I am super impressed by your slide collection, and that rack thingy you have them on!

Re: Can anyone help DATE my 1970's Fender Quad Reverb???

I found a simple chrome dish rack at Walmart that has the perfect "fingers"
to hold the slides....
