my friend want to make his squier tele into an esquire
n wanted to put a fender esquire pickguard on it,
will the FENDER pickguard fit the SQUIER?

Re: CAN Fender pickguards fit Squier?

It's hard to know. Sometimes the holes will line up somewhat, sometimes it will be close, other times it wont be so close. what squier tele is it? if it's one of the better squier ones, maybe the location of the holes will be a tad accurate. the pickguard i put on my tele had some holes that i needed to drill, it was no big deal.

+1

Different generations of Squier instruments seem to place the screws and holes in different locations compared to both each other AND the American originals.

Either be prepared to re-drill in the wood or to widen holes in the plastic slightly. The other alternative is to retain the OEM guard and slap a sticker over the neck PU aperture.

I tried to put a Fender Lone Strat Pickguard on a Jap made Squier. It worked - somehow...

Even replacing Fender pickguards on Fender guitars you have trouble with the holes lining up sometimes.

You can use a Fender pgaurd on a Squire, just have to fill the old holes with wood glue and toothpicks and drill pilot holes for the new screw placement.

It's a Squire not a vintage piece so you can do whatever you need to make it work.

Drill and fill? Why? The new pickguard will cover any holes that you're not using, and cover up any holes that you make. It's a Squier, not a 50's original. :D

Line up the pickguard where you need it, if you need to make holes, use a small bit screwdriver to puncture the finish and then stick the screws in.

Dont be afraid to drill your guitar bro, i've been known to pull off some pretty Eddie Van Halen moves on my guitars. lol

It's not being afraid, it's just the time and mess and everything. ;)
