Can I disable the bottom two speakers in a slanted 4x12 cab to reduce noise?

I have a 100 watt amp that I use as a practice amp and it's way to loud obviously.

You certainly can. But you won't lose very much volume.

As J said though...what amp model is it and what kind of cab as well?

like sly said you certainly can disable one to three speakers in the cab. how much that will cut volume will depend on what amp you have. if your amp is ss then you can cut the volume down a fair amount by changing the load. an amp that is rated at 100w @ 4 ohms will give you maybe 70w at 8 ohms and 50w at 16 ohms

Yeah, keep in mind 'disabling' speakers will change your impedance as well.

100w amps are not for bedroom practicing.

212 on the floor will sound slightly less loud than a 212 raised up off the ground,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,just say'n.

Throw a heavy blanket over the cab.

Can you rewire a 412 into a 212? Yes.

Will it still be safe for your amp? Maybe.

Will doing so make a too-loud amp not too-loud? No.

cuts volume for sure but is a huge tone suck as well

Why wire a 4x12 @ 4ohms instead of 16?
