Can I use the cable...

that came with a Fender Frontman's footswitch for a speaker cable to go from the external speaker jack on my H & K to my speaker jack on my Hartke 4X12? Or do I have to get a "true" speaker cable? All I know is you can't use guitar cable for speaker cable.

Re: Can I use the cable...

no, the reason you can't use guitar cable for speaker cable is because it's meant for small currents, and the conductors inside are not a high enough guage to handle the current sent to speakers. similarly, the conductor in your footswitch cable is meant for small currents, and so you can't use it for speakers. i'd use cables with at least 16-guage conductors in them for speakers.

Re: Can I use the cable...

not to mention that a lot of footswitches use a TRS cable, rather than a TS (although i'm not familiar with the frontman so this may or may not be the case).

get a real, dedicated speaker cable.

Rule of thumb-

Do not use a "shielded" cable for speakers.

If you've got a conductor that's a braided shield on the cable- you should not use it as a speaker cable.
