Can someone help me with a wiring diagram?

Re: Can someone help me with a wiring diagram?

I took a shot at it already, but I'd need a second pair of eyes to check my work at this point.

My best advice is to put together some cheap alligator clip wires and try to wire up what you have laid out, test it with the pickups and see if it does what you are expecting. I always do that myself before soldering. Sometimes I catch wrong connections that way.

I'm looking at this right now. She'll be done before my 1st cup 'o coffee. ;)

Ok, I see one little problem to start with. In your diagram, (post #19), you label the bridge stud coil as "north", and the neck screw coil as "north". Technically, the north/south designations don't change just because you rotate the pickup around. On a DiMarzio, "north" is always going to be the stud coil. (Red/black wires.) So, firstly, it would be helpful if you labeled what you wanted based on stud/screw rather than north/south.

I'm guessing that in position #2, you want the neck screw coil with the bridge stud coil. But I'm not sure which neck coil you want active in pos #4.

Good info to know artie. I want the screw coils active in 2nd and 4th positions.

Cool. I'll get something up when I get home from work tonight. ;)

Re: Can someone help me with a wiring diagram?

hello guys ! i've searched the internet and tried to find a wiring diagram for HH 1 vol 2 tones 5 way switch . with neck split coil, neck humbucker , bridge humbucker , both connected in series in phase and last both connected in parallel in phase .
your help will be appreciated

Re: Can someone help me with a wiring diagram?

You won't get that with a normal 5-way. You'll need a 5-way Super Switch, and I *think* it will end up wired like this. (Check it with temporary wires before soldering to make sure it's going to work. I don't have a super switch to test with at the moment. Disclaimer: This may be wrong - a second pair of eyes to review would be very advisable.)

thanks and I guess bridge + and neck+ goes to tone????
THANK YOU VERY MUCH !!!! I will ask around for other opinions and I will show your diagram....
again Thank you for giving me some hope :)

Re: Can someone help me with a wiring diagram?

thank beaubrummels I already studied that diagram but doesent have the options that I want. I got 2 tones push pull and 1 vol push pull that will make it easier .... hopefully :)
tahnks

Right, that's why I posted only the switch part before because that's the biggest part that will be different for your situation. Whenever you've got a new, custom idea for wiring, you'll always have to combine a couple diagrams together.

I never tought about it like that.... Will it be easier if I the 2 tones and the volume are pushpull ???
How can test this wiring system without damaging the pickups or even worst the amp ?
Thank you for your time .

Re: Can someone help me with a wiring diagram?

How important is it that the pickup options happen in the order you asked for? If you need the pickup options to happen in that order on a 5-way, then push-pulls won't help.

The way I test wiring without soldering is I get a bunch of alligator clip wires and connect everything up according to the diagram and plug it into an amp and try the switches and knobs to see if they are changing the sound like I would expect. If you have to, install the pickups in the guitar body and put strings on it, but have the pickup wires come out one of the holes on the guitar and do the test/clip wiring outside the guitar so you can mess with it. If you have to change anything, make sure to correct it on your drawing. Once you've got it all working as expected and you've corrected your drawing for any changes you had to make, then put all the alligator clip wires aside, wire it normally, soldering everything together. I would test each solder connection with a meter after it cools before getting too far into it.

Re: Can someone help me with a wiring diagram?

the order doesent matter ... I just want the otions ... for no particular eason...
ima thinking about wiring it directly .. I just order a 5 way 4 pole super switch.... in a couple of weeks will be here

tahnk you so much for your time .. I really mean it
I will still have alook around and aske other people about the diagram
