Can the Duncan SFX-03 do cleans

It is a tube preamp pedal, right? But does it just do distorted tones, or can it do cleans as well?

Yes, it is a preamp pedal, but it does not have a cab emulator built into it so you need at least that to run to the board directly. I would suggest if you are thinking it direct to the board with no other amp, you would probably want to have an eq in the chain (after the pedal) as well and a cab emulator (yes many of these are often eq based as well, others are not so much - Palmer, Microcab, etc).

If that is taken into account, yes it will do cleans.

I am thinking of using it live into a power amp and cabinet. What do you think of it for that application?

I have not tried the application you indicated, so I can't speak to it with any real authority. The pedal can be obtained from several online sources. All the major online players I think.

One of these days I will try it into my powerblock (poweramp) and see what it does.

The SFX-03 does have clean tones and they're great, especially if you have a Fender tube amp with Fender single coil guitars.

I've just got mine from Guitar Center.
