If you roll off the volume of the neck humbucker in a maple fretboard guitar, you’ll hear more twang- that’s what I hear.

I also hear more single note clarity from the neck humbucker because of the maple…

I think 9 out of 10 people playing guitar can hear the differences in the sound of each fretboard.I also think that when starting playing the guitar as newbies they go for the looks,then feel and later on the sound of it.

I agree with most of what has been posted. They both have their place, tonally, though. I personally prefer maple or ebony mainly because of the feel. It takes a fine piece of rosewood to satisfy my taste.

from what i've noticed. Rosewood seems to have better sustain.
