really wanting to get a greenback but just have it in a 1 x 12" configuration to use with lower wattage amps (lower and right at its capacity), but occasionally I'd like to use it with a higher powered amp (rated well over it's capacity) but in that scenario really keep the volume to a normal bedroom level.
so I'm wondering - can you hear a speaker about to get fried and save it/stop it from getting wrecked? I can understand blowing it up by hitting it with a ton of wattage right off the bat, but if you're creeping up the volume slowly, wouldn't you hear it getting overloaded a bit before it goes and be able to back it off for use?
