Can you mod an EL84 amp for EL34s?

I mean easily... what would you have to do? Is it possible to just use 1 EL34 in a low wattage amp?
Or can you just pull an EL34 from a 50W amp safely?

thanks

A class A\B amp needs two tubes to function anyway :)

IIRC el84 sockets are smaller, but I could be talking out my ass here....

Some amps are designed this way from teh ground up, with a single output tube.... usually in teh 5-18 wattt range...

If it´s a standard design using a Push/pull output stage (like Mesas, Marshalls, Fenders...): No

And isn't it possible to solder out those sockets and just replace them with EL34 ones?

NOPE ! In most case's the Power Transformer will NOT! Be able to handle the extra current draw from a EL34. There is a few more reasons as well,But no need to go into them.:13:

Ok that makes sense... thank you.

el-84's use the same socket as preamp tubes = tiny

yellow jackets go the other way, i think. it lets el84s be used in el34 slots and 6l6 slots, or something like that.
