Hi Folks, A few months back I bought a used 2016 Elite Telecaster. It has the S1 switch that allows me to play the two middle pickups in series vs standard parallel. It had the N4 pickups replaced but it sounded good to me and the S1 switch worked.
Once I started gigging with it I realized there was one venue I play at often that gets me a loud hum unless I switch to the middle position in parallel or series. The neck is very loud hum that you can mostly hear on the quiet parts of songs or between them.
So I took it apart to see what the pickups were and I took these pictures. There are are no tell tale markings but I can see that the neck looks unpotted and it has the third yellow wire for the S1 switch.
What is this pickup? Can you guys tell from the way the cover does not go over the sides completely on the top and bottom, or from the windings?
The other thing is that this pickup cover is peeling - the chrome is coming off and I'm worried it's messing up the sound as the flakes attach to the magnets.
Ignore the tin foil in the background. I put that under the pick guard and it really helps reduce static on all of my guitars.
