Re: Can you recommend a cheap mic?
Not true. A 58 is basically a 57 with a windscreen.
From Shure's website:
"Question:
Can I use SM58 for my gutiar amp?
And the most IMPORTANT question, if I use this mic (SM58), in front of my guitar amp, lets say about 3 inches, there's any chance that I could damaged the mic? I mean, the pressure generate by the amp, can damage the microphone?
Answer:
At 01/17/2001 07:33 AM we wrote - The SM57 is the most common mic used for a guitar amp. The SM58 is same as the SM57, except the SM58 has a ball-shaped grille. Either model is a good choice for miking a guitar amp.
The sound pressure from the guitar amp will not damage the SM57 or the SM58, no matter how loud you set the amplifier."
Not to shoot you down buddy, but If my memory serves me right the SM58 mics are for vocals only and aren't recommended for instrument micing.
